Ginger Lane - NNN 2025

Berlin, Germany

BORN: November 27, 1939 – Berlin, Germany

STORY OF SURVIVAL

The youngest of seven siblings, Ginger was hidden in a shed for two years after her mother, a resistance fighter, was arrested and deported to Auschwitz. She and her siblings survived the war with the help of German neighbors and immigrated to the U.S. in 1946. Later paralyzed in a skiing accident, Ginger became a disability rights leader, founding the inclusive dance company CounterBalance and working at Access Living in Chicago. Her life embodies resilience—from Holocaust survivor to pioneering artist and advocate. She is featured in the documentary Would You Hide Me?, created by her daughter Beth Lane.
