Sol Harris - NNN 2025

Lesko, Poland

BORN: October 1935 – Lesko, Poland

STORY OF SURVIVAL

At just five years old, Sol Harris and his family fled eastward across the Soviet Union to escape the Nazi invasion. He endured harsh conditions in exile, working in cotton fields, contracting malaria, and losing his community. After the war, the family lived in a DP camp before immigrating to the U.S. in 1950. Drafted into the U.S. Army, Sol served as a medic in postwar Germany. His life reflects extraordinary endurance—from a refugee child to an American veteran and witness to a century.
